Each county map is divided into its administrative area of 100 and offers a detailed explanation of the roads, canals and the growing network of rail roads.
Henry Teesdale published his first “New British Atlas” in 1829. Its initial success allowed Teesdale to publish a further seven editions in slightly different formats up until 1848 when the company was taken over by H G Collins. Teesdale also produced large folding decorative county maps which rivalled the map makers Charles and James Greenwood.
